We pushed the limits on what had been done in Telluride, and it shows.

Marie Flanagan, designer

“After a thorough process, we chose to entrust Richardson Construction with the full remodel of our dream home in Telluride. The renovation was a “down to the studs” rebuild of a house with great bones but a very dated interior and layout.

James, Sinny, and Christian were on site and engaged every day of the remodel and demonstrated remarkable responsiveness throughout the process, solving many challenges in real time. This is critically important when performing a comprehensive remodel from long distance. And most importantly, the craftsmanship and results were amazing and something everyone involved in the project can be proud of.

The home was featured on the cover of Mountain Living Magazine, published in Vogue Living Australia online, published in Marie Flanagan’s “The Beauty of Home”, and won several awards for design including the Paper City award for Best Design < 3,500 sq feet. However, the best validation of this project is that our family loves this home and enjoys living there as much as possible.”

We worked with J & S Richardson Construction when we built our home a few years ago. We were very happy with the process and compared to other personal construction projects we had done in the past, I can say it was the best experience.

Working with James, Sinny, Christian and their team was a pleasure because they are professional and honest. We were able to move into our home within the year of starting our construction.

They were efficient and fast. They have access to great sub contractors and the billing was straight forward with no surprises.

We were so happy to work with people who genuinely care about building a quality home. They were also flexible and creative with us when we wanted to do our unique design.

We love our home and continue to thrive in out beautiful space built on mutual respect.

Thank you J & S Richardson Construction for helping us build our dream home.

Emily Masson & Jack Wesson

In 2010 J&S Richardson construction remodeled our ski condos from original 1970s construction to modern spacious homes. The remodel doubled the floor space, required lifting the building off of its foundation, and took most of a year. During this time we were remote and relied on J&S to stay on top of the project.

Our experience could not have been better; James and crew did a fabulous job. Not only did this complex construction run smoothly, but they came up with innovative ways to work around unforeseen problems (like incorrect original construction drawings that required steel reinforcement).

Whenever questions came up we relied on James to help us make the best choices; choosing what was practical but also fit our vision. The result is both beautiful and highly functional; so nice in fact that we moved here permanently ten years later.

We were also involved in another major remodel at the same time involving a different contractor in the town where we lived. The contrast was dramatic: despite being on site we didn’t have the same sense of working together, but found ourselves frequently pushing against that contractor to execute what we wanted. The result turned out fine, but it underscored the importance of the relationship between contractor and client. Based on our experience we would highly recommend J&S construction to anyone.

I had the pleasure of working with the Richardson Building Team on my condo in Telluride. Having dealt with builders all over the country, I was extremely impressed by James, Sinny and Christian.

Their attention to detail, professionalism and honesty are front and center in all aspects of their work. My project was quite complex, and they skillfully managed every twist and turn with adeptness and maintained a “can do attitude” throughout the process.

It is not often that one can say that they hired a builder and ended up with three new family members in the process. I unequivocally recommend Richardson Builders and look forward to using them on my next project.

After purchasing a vacant lot in Telluride several years ago, we selected Richardson Construction as our builder/contractor. The entire experience with James was excellent. He was fair and honest throughout the process often making very helpful suggestions/changes to the original plans.

Having worked with other builders, what set James apart for us was his personal involvement and intense focus on our home during the construction period.

As a skilled master carpenter, he was on the job working EVERY SINGLE DAY which allowed us to finish the home several months before plan. James and Sinny were always good to work with on change orders and we ended up becoming friends with them and with the crew.

Just as important as the excellent craftsmanship on the home, was the support that James has provided in the years after the project. We have had normal repair and change matters and James has been available on short notice to handle our needs, often without additional charge to us.

When I later purchased condos for investment purposes, I chose James for those jobs with similar experiences. If I had additional construction work to be done in Telluride, I would ONLY consider Richardson Construction and I recommend them without reservation.
